WHAT HAVE BEEN ACCOMPLISHED:
JMEC has been structural engineer a feasibility study and final design for stabilizing the existing slope along W. El Pintado Road including a memorial park area. Wall types considered included soldier pile lagging wall with and without tie-backs, MSE wall, soil reinforcing system, and secant wall. JMEC prepared structural type selection report with cost estimates. Design of the earth retaining system conforms to AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications with California Amendments.
In the final design, JMEC designed 140' of soldier pile wall with concrete lagging and rock slope protection, reconstruct the sidewalk and part of the memorial park area, and reuse the existing Cor-Ten steel railing to reduce costs. By using a special soldier pile wall, the principle layout of the memorial park and the roadway aesthetics are maintained.
